Robert and Chase are currently in phase 1 where the original Crossroads is being recreated as-is on new code. Phase 2 will extend the original game to incorporate new Realms, Monsters, Spells, Quests, Items, Treasures and more. Late 2006, Robert began converting the Crossroads source code into a pencil-and-paper tabletop role-playing game based on the D20 fantasy role-playing game rules. When the creators of the D20 rules changed the licensing to prevent conversion as software, Robert began writing the original Xroads MUD rules as their own standalone game, for the 3D Metaverse of OpenSimulator, OSgrid, and SecondLife.
